Hadley Hack - CRU Scandal

Just thought I'd throw up some other links to the debacle now unfurling regarding the data manipulations at the CRU:

Who leaked the Hadley CRU files and why (asks some good questions)

the phrase "Hadley CRU" is not the true name of the Climatic Research Unit of the University of East Anglia. The first person to use that phrase was Anthony Watts, of Watts Up With That. As RealClimate.org and others have noted, Watts is the first person to use the phrase "Hadley Centre" to describe the CRU. This is incorrect; the CRU does not use the word "Hadley" in its name, and the "Hadley Centre" is an entirely separate institution, having no connection with Phil Jones or his team

  1. Hey maggie: heard this news, wrh has been touting it all over the place.

hopefully it will get some people thinking.

glad you posted the movie again, always a good refresher!

  2. Well, judging by the Canadian mainstream media - none of this ever happened. Nada, not one f*n word.

    Pathetic.

This doesn't surprise me though, back in the uni days I was told straight out: If you want to be successful make sure you can relate your research somehow to climate change.

These emails are really no surprise to those who have had any experience with the scientific research community - esp when attempting to smash a (in this case - FALSE) paradigm.

  4. Sorry, Honours in Geology and Chemistry.

    B.Sc. Honours

Maybe one day if my load decreases I'll finish off the Masters and PhD.

    Who knows...

  5. I found self study of math to be very fruitful and reduced my academic load greatly. I was always ahead of my math classmates and did far less actual work because I wasn't under pressure in learning it. Once you know the math, science is easy. I self studied the multivariable calculus and intro algegra book used at Carleton - Protter & Morey - best math book I ever read.

I want to learn advanced quantum mechanics because I know this will be very easy for me, having looked through the books, all the equations look familiar and I have a good working understanding of Heisenberg uncertainty. This an communications theory intereet me the most. I like the beauty of the math in these subjects. I wouldn't go to school. I hate going to classes.

The quantum mechanics I did was only basic, not dealing with the full DE treatment. Engineering is wierd - some of its very difficult, but other stuff was very easy.

Linking up quantum with electromagnetic theory would be interesting. I think there are secrets in gravity in all of that. I think the gov has anti gravity machines. I think a lot of science stopped after the 50's as far as teaching and that it was puposefully made excessively difficult at the course level.
